Why do my new cabinets look uneven after installation?

Uneven cabinets often point to an unlevel wall, floor, cabinet box, or mounting line. Cabinet installation needs a check of the wall, floor, box alignment, and adjoining panels. A contractor can isolate the source before adjusting doors or adding trim. This approach helps separate a cabinet problem from a room condition that needs wider remodeling work.

Cabinet Installation for Clyde Hill kitchens and bathrooms

Cabinet installation focuses on the fit between the cabinet system and the room. We review the planned layout, wall condition, floor level, cabinet type, fillers, end panels, and trim before the work begins.

The buyer’s key decision is style as well as fit. Inset cabinets sit inside the face frame, while Shaker, flat-panel, and framed choices affect the look, storage access, and trim details.

This page serves buyers who need cabinet work as part of a kitchen or bathroom remodel. It also fits businesses planning interior improvements, retail renovations, office remodels, or tenant improvements where storage must match the existing layout.

  • Choose the cabinet style before final layout decisions.
  • Confirm whether the existing boxes stay or are removed.
  • Check wall, floor, and corner conditions before mounting cabinets.
  • Plan fillers, end panels, toe kicks, crown trim, and hardware locations.
  • Coordinate plumbing, electrical, flooring, and countertop work around the cabinet layout.

Service Overview

Cabinet installation is a construction service that places, secures, aligns, and trims cabinet boxes, doors, drawers, and panels.

  • Cabinet installation fits new storage into an existing or remodeled room, while cabinet refinishing changes surfaces without replacing the boxes.
  • Clyde Hill coverage includes residential and commercial cabinet work coordinated through our design-build service.

What the finished cabinet layout changes

A planned cabinet layout gives the room a clear storage pattern and usable work zones.

Inset cabinet doors create a flush face when the room and cabinet construction suit that style.

Correct fillers and end panels close visible gaps at walls, corners, and exposed sides.

Aligned doors and drawers give the finished room a more consistent appearance.

Design-build coordination helps keep cabinet choices connected to the wider renovation scope.

When this service is the right fit

A typical buyer may be updating a kitchen or bathroom while keeping parts of the existing room. We inspect the cabinet opening, wall, floor, and nearby services, then explain whether installation alone fits or whether the design-build scope should include repairs or layout changes.

Cabinet installation choices that affect the job

Choose the cabinet style first

Cabinet style affects face-frame details, reveals, trim, and the final room appearance. Customers comparing inset, Shaker, flat-panel, and framed cabinets should settle the look before the layout is finalized.

Check the room before mounting

Walls and floors guide cabinet alignment. Customers should expect the installation plan to account for corners, fillers, panels, toe kicks, and nearby plumbing or electrical work.

Know when this is not the right job

Cabinet installation is not a structural repair or a full room redesign by itself. If damaged framing, major water damage, or wider layout changes control the project, the work needs a broader remodeling scope.

Process

How we install cabinets for the planned room

1

Review the room and cabinet style

We review the room, cabinet style, layout, existing conditions, and related remodeling work before setting the installation scope.

2

Prepare the mounting surfaces

We check the wall, floor, corners, and cabinet opening, then address fit conditions included in the approved work.

3

Set and secure cabinet boxes

We place cabinet boxes in the planned layout, secure them to suitable mounting points, and keep adjoining boxes aligned.

4

Fit panels, fillers, and trim

We add the panels, fillers, toe kicks, and trim needed to close the layout and connect it to the room.

5

Align doors and drawers

We adjust doors and drawers so the cabinet fronts sit evenly and operate as planned.

Overall I enjoyed working with Linda and her team. Even though there were no major redesign of spaces and I knew exactly what tile/fixtures/cabinets etc I wanted I still was appreciative of her insight on certain details and choices. It was very easy to collaborate with her. She makes an effort to be in-tune with a client. She was very responsive and took care of everything that needed attention as soon as she was able too. She made sure that I was listened to and taken care of as a client with her subcontractors. I would work with her again.

Linda and her team did an excellent job! We would highly recommend them. We hired her for a kitchen remodel and asked for a very tight timeline. She delivered and we absolutely love the result. She was very commutative and available to us. Thank you Design and Build NW!

After experiencing water damage in our home, we needed to replace all our flooring, some kitchen cabinets, and redo our primary bath. Linda and her team truly saved the day after a disappointing experience with another contractor. She worked closely with us to choose the perfect tiles for our bathroom and find flooring that suited our home. Her contractors did exceptional work, from leveling the floors to installation and cabinet remaking, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Linda answered all our questions along the way, and we cannot speak highly enough of the work she and her team performed!

Questions about choosing and installing cabinets

Which cabinet style fits my kitchen or bathroom for Cabinet Installation?

Inset cabinets fit rooms that call for a flush, built-in look and precise door reveals. Shaker cabinets suit a simple framed-door style, while flat-panel cabinets create a smoother face. Framed cabinets affect how the box and doors meet. The right choice depends on the room, desired look, trim plan, and cabinet layout.

When scheduling Cabinet Installation, who installs cabinets as part of a larger remodel?

HomeRemodelSammamish.com installs cabinets as part of residential and commercial remodeling work. Customers can combine cabinet work with design, planning, flooring, plumbing, electrical, bathroom, kitchen, retail, office, or tenant improvement scopes. Our licensed and insured general contractor service keeps the cabinet plan connected to the wider construction work.

What does the crew inspect before setting cabinet boxes?

The starting inspection checks the wall, floor, corners, cabinet opening, and nearby services. Customers should expect the review to include mounting points, cabinet depth, fillers, panels, and connections to plumbing or electrical work. These checks help define whether cabinet installation alone fits the room or whether related repairs belong in the quote.

How do existing floors affect cabinet installation?

Existing floors affect cabinet height, toe-kick fit, and the transition at nearby surfaces. Customers with retained flooring should identify its type and condition during the consultation. Our team can then account for the floor in the cabinet layout and explain whether flooring work belongs in the wider remodeling scope.

What changes the quote for inset cabinet work?

Inset cabinet work costs more or less based on the cabinet layout, box condition, trim, fillers, panels, removal, and room preparation. The quote also reflects related work around plumbing, electrical, flooring, and countertops. A Free Consultation gives customers a way to discuss these details before approving a defined scope.

When should a business request cabinet installation planning?

Businesses should request cabinet planning before retail renovations, office remodels, or tenant improvements reach the construction stage. The layout needs to support access, counters, storage, and daily operations. Property managers and business owners should share access rules, existing plans, and project requirements so the cabinet scope fits the occupied space.
